Benefits of Greek Yogurt

     What differentiates Greek yogurt from traditional yogurt is that Greek yogurt has been strained to remove the whey. As a result, Greek yogurt has a creamier, thicker texture and rich flavor. In addition, the removal of whey results in a healthier yogurt with 40 percent less sugar, 38 percent less sodium and more than twice the amount of protein than traditional yogurt. Each spoonful is also packed with nutrients and provides numerous health benefits.
     Having this amazing addition to your diet helps aid: Weight management, blood pressure, digestive health and bone health just to name a few.
There is definitely no shortage of Greek yogurt recopies but here is one of our personal favorites.  Its a dipping sauce that can be used for both meat or chicken and its really easy to make.
 

CCF's Greek Yogurt Dip

  • 1 whole avocado (preferably Hass)
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 2 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp salt (or, to taste)
  • 1 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • healthy pinch of cayenne pepper
